Nothing is as heartbreaking as seeing innocent children suffer from inevitable consequences that’s not of their doing. It robs them of a chance to live their life to the fullest. If you were a mother of a child who suffers from a lifelong medical condition, would you also go the extra hundred miles to fight for a cure or a treatment that would somehow ease his pain and improve his quality of life?

Missy Miller knows that medical marijuana can potentially extend his 14 year-old son’s life. Imagine what she had to go through seeing her child experience hundreds of seizures each day. The seemingly endless battle killed her every day. She knows she has to do something about it and it’s not just for the sake of her son but also for the other children whose lives will surely transform after the use of medical marijuana is legalized in their state.

Finally, last July, New York finally passed the Compassionate Care Act through Governor Andrew Cuomo. It may not be implemented immediately but 18 months is better than having nothing to wait for. Now that New York has passed the bill, not only children but also adults who are suffering from serious debilitating and severe medical conditions such as cancer, AIDS, Parkinson’s Disease, epilepsy, Huntington’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis now have the hope that they need to look at life positively.

It has been a struggle for the patients and their families but with medical marijuana, they can now move forward with hope and look at life more beautifully.
